This past weekend our troop and pack attended the Chesapeake district aviation day. It was located at Essex sky park instead of Martin state airport this year which gave the troops attending the option to camp the whole weekend. During Saturday there was an array of merit badges that were able to be completed from aviation to space exploration and even fish and wild life!
There was a lot of attendance from local organizations and politicians such as the national guard 175th wing, Martin state 52nd civil air patrol, fire department, police, state police, Marshy point nature center and even Miss twist. The opening ceremony was beautiful with the Maryland paratroopers skydiving into the airfield with the national anthem sang on their landing. The troop was even able to sell their pit beef and our pack was able to sell a variety of snacks.
This year's aviation day was a very fun event with almost 400 boys and girls in attendance with multiple very interesting presentations from aviation based organizations . We look forward to a even better trip next year
